MADCTY Intro Sequence

After a summer of shooting endless hours of footage while cycling, kayaking, hiking, climbing, skating, longboarding, surf skating and more and not publishing anything despite a strong desire the time has come to start.

The prime reasons there was a lull in content creation are that I found my video editing skills lacking, my audio recording skills, also lacking and time to develop them was short.

Maintaining balance is important to me, more important than content creation… this past summer was full of camping trips, career demands, parenting demands and attention required to maintain my personal relationships, leaving little time for learning, but I was able to fit a tutorial or watch a video or google some aspect here and there.

Finally those moments I was able to steal throughout the summer have added up to some skill growth, additionally the fall has come and the kids are back in school, holidays are done and the weather isn’t as conducive to outdoor activities allowing me to find some larger bulk periods of time to dedicate – as a result I’m publishing my first Intro Video.

This video began with a template, but morphed throughout as I learned how the scenes were assembled and each element was layered and built…

Following establishing a video sequence that I was relatively happy with I took to writing a guitar riff to build a piece of music for the intro sequence – despite being less than 30 seconds it was not an easy task.

I used to buy into the concept that “Everything worth doing, is worth doing well” but in my brain that got twisted into “if you can’t do it well then don’t do it” so for a number of years I’ve adopted the philosophy of “Anything worth doing, is worth doing poorly…” take that with the caveat that you live with integrity and are always doing the best you can with what you have the end result is you are living life to its fullest.
